It’s easier to switch than you think from a different bank such as Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC or Barclays.

Our dedicated Switching Team will take all the hassle away. The team will switch your standing orders, direct debits and other regular payments to your new bank account – all you need to do is transfer your salary and other credits, e.g. your pension. For added peace of mind, we'll even give you a fee-free overdraft for 120 days.

Your next step is just to choose which bank account is right for you. We'll do the rest and keep you informed throughout the process.

Our Switching Team will:

  • contact your existing bank
  • switch any regular payments, direct debits and standing orders to your new bank account
  • arrange an overdraft that’s interest free or fee free (depending on the type of bank account) for the first four months.

Step by step

Switching to the Ultimate Reward Currrent Account, Reward Current Account or the Current Account is easier than you think.

All you have to do is:

Step 1 – Choose an account that's right for you and apply online

  • Complete the application forms online, selecting the option to switch

 

Step 2 – Our dedicated Switching Team will then take over
They will:

  • contact you within 2 working days to begin the process, so have your existing bank details handy
  • contact your existing bank and switch your standing orders and direct debits
  • arrange a fee-free overdraft for 120 days to help ensure the switch is as smooth as possible - view the full switching overdraft details.

 

Step 3 – Transfer any credits into your new account

  • You will need to contact your employer to transfer any salary payments into your new account, as well as any other credits, e.g. your pension – but don’t worry, our Switching Team is always on hand if you need any help. Just give us a call on 0845 602 5293 between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm on Saturdays.

We always hope to complete your account transfer within 28 days provided there are no unexpected delays.

Fee-free overdraft

To help make the switch as smooth as possible, we'll give you a fee-free overdraft for 120 days to cover your outgoings during the switch.

If you're an Ultimate Reward Current Account customer, after 120 days, the first £300 of an arranged overdraft will remain fee-free. Over £300 and up to and including £2,500, we’ll charge you £1 a day. If you use an arranged overdraft of over £2,500, we’ll charge you £2 a day. If you use an unarranged overdraft, we'll charge  you £5 a day. 

If you're a Reward Current Account or Current Account customer, after 120 days, if you use an arranged overdraft up to and including £2,500, we’ll charge you £1 a day. If you use an arranged overdraft of over £2,500, we’ll charge you £2 a day. If you use an unarranged overdraft, we'll charge you £5 a day. 

As we charge fees on this account instead of interest, the typical rate is 0% EAR.

An important note…


You can only use the switching service to transfer your bank account from another bank or building society to a Bank of Scotland current account. We do everything possible to ensure all your standing orders, direct debits and incoming payments are transferred across to your new current account. But we do rely on the organisations you pay by direct debit and your previous bank or building society to quickly change their records. If they take too long to respond, this could delay the switch.  Your employer or pension provider is also responsible for changing their records and paying your salary or pension into your new account.Bank of Scotland current accounts and services offered are subject to status. Overdrafts are repayable on demand.EAR is the equivalent annual rate. This is the actual annual cost of an overdraft. It does not take into account fees and charges.
